Privacy policy
Annotiv lets you leave notes on web pages. This page explains what the extension stores, what it reads, and what leaves your device. The short version: your notes stay in your browser, and we run no servers that receive them.
What we store
The notes you write (title, text, tags, which page or site each belongs to, and timestamps) are saved in your browser's extension storage. If browser sync is on, your browser (Chrome or Firefox) syncs them across your own devices through your own account. Large notes, or notes beyond the sync quota, stay on the device only and are marked that way in the panel.
We do not receive, copy, or have access to your notes. We have no account system and no database of user content.
What the extension reads
| Web addresses and page titles | Read locally from your tabs to decide which notes belong to the page you are on, and to show a badge on the toolbar icon. They are not sent anywhere. |
|---|---|
| Site icons (favicons) | Read locally to choose the panel's colour tint. The image is processed on your device and only a colour value is kept. |
| Page content | Never read. Annotiv has no access to what is written on the pages you visit. |
Payments and licence checks
Pro features are sold through ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe to process payments. When you open the plans page, start a trial, or the extension checks whether your plan is active, it contacts extensionpay.com and sends an anonymous identifier generated for your installation. If you subscribe, the payment details you enter are handled by Stripe and ExtensionPay; Annotiv never sees your card number. See ExtensionPay's and Stripe's own privacy policies for how they handle that data.
What we do not do
- No analytics, tracking, advertising, or profiling.
- No sale or sharing of data with third parties.
- No remote code: every script the extension runs ships inside the package.
Why each permission is needed
| storage | Saves your notes and settings. |
|---|---|
| tabs | Reads the address and title of the current tab so notes appear on the right page. |
| webNavigation | Notices page changes inside single-page apps so the badge stays correct. |
| sidePanel (Chrome) | Shows the note panel beside the page. |
| favicon (Chrome) | Reads the site icon locally to tint the panel. |
| extensionpay.com | Licence checks and the payment pages. |
Your choices
You can export your notes at any time from the menu. Deleting a note removes it from your browser storage and, if sync is on, from your synced copy. Uninstalling the extension removes local data; to clear synced data, use your browser's sync settings.
Children
Annotiv is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version and date will appear on this page before the change takes effect.
