Privacy Policy for TabAuth

Effective Date: January 23, 2026

TabAuth ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting any information you may share while using our Chrome extension. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

TabAuth is designed to enhance your browser experience by managing tab access. To provide its functionality, the extension collects only the minimum data necessary:

Active Tab Information:

  • We may temporarily access the URL and title of the currently active tab to provide the locking/unlocking functionality.
  • This data is never stored or shared with third parties.

Browser Storage Data:

  • We use Chrome's storage API to save user preferences and settings (e.g., locked tabs, custom configurations).
  • This data is stored locally on your browser and is not transmitted to any server.

Non-Personal Data:

  • We may collect anonymized usage statistics to improve the extension, but these statistics do not identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used solely for the purpose of:

  • Enabling tab locking and authentication features.
  • Saving and restoring your settings and preferences.
  • Improving the extension's performance and functionality.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share any personal information with third parties. The only data accessed (active tab and storage settings) is strictly used within your browser session for the extension's functionality.

4. Data Security

We take appropriate measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. Because TabAuth stores data locally and does not transmit it to servers, your information remains under your control.

5. Third-Party Services

TabAuth does not use or integrate with any third-party services that collect personal data.

6. Your Privacy Choices

  • You can remove TabAuth at any time from Chrome, which will also delete all extension-stored data.
  • You can clear the extension's stored settings manually via Chrome's extension settings.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted within the extension listing and in this document. The effective date at the top will indicate the latest revision.
